Scottish Premiere
Itto, a young woman from a modest rural background, is slowly adapting to the privileged codes of her husband’s Moroccan family. But when supernatural events plunge the country into a state of emergency, Itto is separated from her husband and new in-laws. Alone, pregnant, and searching for a way back, she discovers her own emancipation.
Animalia first premiered at Sundance where it won a Special Jury Prize for creative vision, before a much anticipated UK and Ireland theatrical release, Jali Film Weekender presents a special preview introduced by film programmer and writer Myriam Mouflih.

Myriam Mouflih
Myriam Mouflih is a programmer and writer based in Glasgow, working across film and contemporary visual art. Myriam has programmed for festivals like Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival, London Film Festival and Africa in Motion Film Festival and organisations such as South London Gallery, Pavilion (Leeds) and The Mosaic Rooms.
